Year 5 and 6
In Year 5 and 6, we challenge the children in all areas of the curriculum, getting them ready for the transition to secondary school. We work on improving the children’s independence and teach them to work together as part of a team; our residential trip in Year 6 to Kingswood is a key part of this.
As it is the children’s final two years of primary school, we provide them with fantastic opportunities to learn and have fun. Our exciting activities include an artist-led watercolour workshop, a visit from Hands on History to experience life in Greek times, Evacuee Day and our 'famous' end of year production.
Topics we cover include:
- Evoluation and Inheritance - how living things have adapted to their environment
- The Tudors - Henry VIII and his wives, the reformation of the church and the Spanish Armada
- World War II - events that lead to the start of the war, the Blitz and D-Day
