Swimming at Cross In Hand
SWIMMING POOL NOTICE: APRIL 2020
The swimming pool is currently closed and we will only open the pool if safe to do so.
The pool is a huge asset to the school and we want as many children as possible to benefit from using it.
All children get the chance to swim a minimum of once a week during curriculum time in the first half of the summer term and twice a week in the second half – it would be wonderful to think that no child will leave Cross in Hand School unable to swim!
Maintaining and running a swimming pool is expensive. It costs several thousand pounds every year to purchase the necessary chemicals and heat the pool and whilst our fundraising goes towards the cost of running the pool, it doesn’t cover it all.
The pool is maintained by our fully qualified staff who hold the accredited National Pool Plant Qualification Awards, meaning your children will only ever swim in a safe, clean and healthy environment.
Following the success of our badge reward system last year, we will have a different colour badge this year!
Donations for this year are suggested at £15 per child, which represents excellent value for the number and quality of lessons provided by our onsite swim school.
Please hand your donations into the office or contact one of the Splash team and we'll make sure your child gets their badge.
After School Swimming Lessons
We are lucky enough to say that two of our wonderful swimming teachers also run after school swimming lessons.
The Swim School holds classes for children of all abilities and is open to Cross in Hand Primary School pupils as well as the wider community.
These lessons take place after the school day has finished on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and on a Sunday.
In addition to this, holiday courses are offered during the Easter, May Half Term and Summer holidays each year.
The school employs fully qualified swimming instructors, as well as fully trained lifeguards. These lessons take place at the school pool between 16.00pm - 19.00pm weekdays and between 11.00am and 13.00pm at the weekend.
Not only are our wonderful teachers able to assist your children with learning to swim but the lessons will also help support the ongoing funding and maintenance of the facility.
Fun swims are open sessions in the pool that allow children to enjoy the water in a safe controlled environment.
Fun Swims take place on a Friday directly after school, so why not come along and give it a go!
These sessions are lifeguarded by our wonderful qualified volunteers and are limited to a maximum of 20 children per session.
If you would like to hire the pool facility, whether it is for a birthday party or a family swim, please contact a member of the splash committee for further information and one of our team will be in contact as soon as possible.
The 2020-2021 Splash Booklet will be available in the near future.
