Early Years
Welcome to Early Years! This is where most of our children begin their learning journey here at Cross in Hand Primary School. We provide a rich experience of play based learning and encourage the children to have their own ideas and explore the world around them. All of our Early Years practise is underpinned by the four guiding principles of ‘A Unique Child’, ‘Positive Relationships’, ‘Enabling Environments’ and ‘Learning and Development’.
The children pursue their learning both indoors and outdoors whatever the weather! We provide the children with a learning environment which is designed to support children to become curious, independent and self-motivated learners.
Our exciting curriculum is built around the interests of the children and supports the development of the Characteristics of Effective Learning. Some of our recent termly themes have included Me in my World, Celebrations, Adventures Near and Far, Growing, Heroes, World of Water. We encourage children to develop positive relationships with adults and their peers, ensuring our high expectations of children’s behaviour and learning are met.
We understand the importance of the parents/carer role in their child’s learning. Here at Cross in Hand we work together to develop a partnership with parents/carers to ensure the best learning for all children. This is enhanced by our use of an online journal, Tapestry. Through Tapestry learning moments can be captured both at home and school and shared with each other.
