Our School Council exists to give students a voice and to teach children the fundamentals of democracy and active citizenship from a young age. It provides a formal, structured platform for children to actively participate in the decision-making process of the school.
By meeting regularly, council members—who are democratically elected by their classmates—discuss and present ideas on issues that directly affect the student body, such as playground equipment, school dinners, or fundraising initiatives.
This process not only instills a sense of responsibility and empowerment but also helps develop crucial life skills like listening, debating, leadership, and cooperation, ultimately creating a school environment where pupils feel their opinions are valued and that they have the agency to effect positive change.
