Yoto Project
Reading sits at the heart of every child’s learning journey. Strong reading skills open the door to the full curriculum, building confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. From the earliest years, we prioritise creating joyful, meaningful reading experiences for all our pupils.
Our Yoto Project brings this vision to life by pairing older and younger children through the magic of storytelling. Older pupils record captivating audio versions of favourite books, which are then turned into bespoke Yoto cards. Younger children listen to these recordings while following along in their own copies, strengthening both comprehension and enthusiasm for reading.
To ensure everyone in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 can take part, Yoto players and book sets rotate around the children. This simple but powerful routine helps foster connection, independence, and a shared love of stories throughout our school community.
